The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, provides operating support to the Arts Commission of Danville/Boyle County with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

An Art-full Affair

At An Art-full Affair, every ticket is a winning ticket, and the number sold is limited to the number of available prizes. During the two-night gala, a catered preview party on Friday with musical entertainment offers displays of all the donated art and other prizes and, during a catered reception on Saturday, the drawing and a special live auction are held. Both nights are fun, but the Saturday night event is exciting from beginning to end.

The Arts Commission created the Art-full Raffle in 2003, specifically to raise funds for arts scholarships for students who would not otherwise be able to have the advantages of extra-curricular arts activities or instruction. (The name was changed to An Art-full Affair in 2015.) The generous donations of local visual and performing artists, businesses, and the volunteers who help host it, have made the Art-full Raffle a success, both socially and financially, earning as much as $6000 in a given year. Each item donated to the raffle—paintings, jewelry, ceramics, fabric art, tutoring sessions and private performances, gift baskets and catered meals, etc.—is worth at least twice the price of the raffle ticket. A ticket for both nights includes admission for two and the selection of an artwork or arts-related service. Those who’ve donated their art or other prize for the drawing also may bring a guest.

At the Friday night preview party, ticket holders browse through the displays and talk to artists and friends. It provides an opportunity to make a list of the items they hope to choose on Saturday night. The items are then selected in turn, as the name of each ticket holder is drawn. During an intermission, a live auction of one or more donated items worth $500 or more is held.

All proceeds are used to fund arts scholarships for deserving youth through our Arts Scholarships. The Art-full Raffle is a fun way to support the cause and support the arts. Look for announcements of the next event, held in the spring of odd-numbered years. Then donate your original work or arts-related service valued at $150 or more, buy a raffle ticket, or both. Remember that ticket sales are limited.

You can also make a cash donation any time. Please contact our executive director, Mimi Becker, [email protected] or 859-236-2361, ext. 111.
