2017 Art-full Affair

An Art-full Affair

Our bi-annual fundraiser, An Art-full Affair, will be held May 19 and 20 at Pioneer Playhouse to raise funds for arts scholarships for children, including the McKune Visual Arts Scholarship Fund, the Powell Performing Arts Scholarship Fund and the Lockhart Art Is Vital Fund. The Preview party will be from 7 to 9 pm on Friday; on Saturday, doors open at 6pm, with the drawing beginning at 7pm. Both events include complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. During intermission on Saturday, we’ll offer—at live auction—works that have been donated by nationally, regionally, and locally known artists, such as Sheldon Tapley, David Farmer, Dacelle Peckler, Stephen Powell and the Pieceable Friends Quilt Guild.

For a $100 donation, you get a ticket that admits two for both nights and your choice of an artwork or arts-related gift or service valued at no less than $150 when your name is called during the Drawing Party. Tickets must be reserved in advance, as the number sold is limited to the number items that have been donated for the drawing. For a $25 donation, those who want to socialize and be only a spectator during the drawing, can attend; however, the live auction is open to everyone. Due to the variety and number of available choices (if your name is called early), we encourage you to come to the Preview Party, talk to the artists about their work, and make a wish list that will help you decide quickly when your name is drawn.

Since beginning this scholarship program in 1994, the Arts Commission has awarded over $25,000 in assistance that provided children experiences in dance, vocal and instrumental music, drama and art camps, the humanities, and more. An Art-full Affair, our only fund-raiser held specifically to fund these arts scholarships, relies on the generosity of area artists and businesses who donate original work and arts-related gifts that are selected, in turn, by ticket holders as their names are drawn. .

This event wouldn’t be possible without the generous donations from our local arts community and arts-related businesses who give their time, their work, and their creativity. To assure that you’ll have a ticket or to participate as a donating artist, please contact Mimi Becker at [email protected] or call 859-236-2361, ext. 111.

All donations to the McKune Arts Scholarship Fund, the Powell Performing Arts Scholarship Fund and the Lockhart Art is Vital Fund are gladly accepted, too, at Fisher’s Row 1, 105 East Walnut Street in Constitution Square.
